I've had this dry patch just above my crease for about a week now and it won't seem to budge. The only thing I can think of is that it appeared when I had to switch face wash from my usual one. The one I used to use was a cream and for dry skin (which is my skin type) but they ran out of it at my supermarket so I switched to the other one in the brand which is a foam one. Could this be the reason or could it be something else?

That could be the reason. I suffer from very dry eyelids as I have psoriasis. I always use either a cleansing balm, oil cleanser or something hydrating. I used a foaming cleanser from lancome a few months ago (it was a gift with purchase) and after one use my whole face was extremely dry and irritated so I threw it out!

CeraVe cleanser is great Coconut Oil alternated with Aquaphor should help as well.

I have that issue sometimes and use first aid beauty emergency repair cream and it clears it up over night.

I have sensitive skin and cannot use certain First Aid Beauty on my face..especially near the eye as many of their products (not all) contain eucalyptus oil...which for some skin it is highly irritable I know several members here use their emergency repair without issue, but if you have a sensitivity to such oils or to fragrance, you might want to make note. I suggest always test patching. It does however contain hylauronic acid which is amazing for dry skin. If you go that route, Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream is less expensive, gentle and highly effective. Aquaphor and CeraVe wash and lotions are inexpensive and at most drugstores. First Aid does make some popular dedicated eye creams, but I have not investigated those.
