Hi All, I purchased the MAC select cover up concealer for my under eye area highlight. Usually, I would use a damp RT sponge to blend out concealer around the eye area and I wouldn't have any trouble with it. But it just doesn't seem to be working with the select cover up. I find it's very patchy and a nightmare to set with powder, leaving it looking very creasy and messy. I tried a synthetic brush too and to no avail either. I also tried my fingers to blend it out and just looks messy. Do any of you lovely people have any other suggestions or tips to make this concealer work? I really want to like it but so far it's just sitting in my makeup bag unused! Any suggestions and tips are highly appreciated. Thanks in advance! :-)

It's one of my favorite concealers for a natural subtle finish. This concealer isn't meant to be an overloaded product and the under eye area should be hydrated. I just place a tiny for under the inner corner of the eye and press in the product with a small concealer brush then using a mac 217 brush lightly buff it out.I don't powder the area if the skin is to dry and I don't use this product for any highlighting effect since it's a simplicity product. :)

I've never used that concealer, but I do know that all concealers have different formulations. Sticks, wands, pots, tube and even powder concealers all have different application methods. And even 2 different tube concealers can be either water-based or oil-based. Or which I have found, a combination of water, oil and silicone. And even among those, there are different ratios of ingredients that can give vastly different finishes and effects. So, its no wonder how difficult it can be to achieve your desired effect. Because "your" desired effect may not be another person's desired effect. So trial & error is inevitable. You've received some good tips here already. So, here is another one. I will thinly apply my concealer on the desired area under my eyes (thinly, you can always add more later), then LIGHTLY dampen your beauty blender. Just run it under the tap for 2 secs. Do not soak it where it doubles in size. Then wrap a tissue around it and squeeze whatever moisture is left in it. Then gently dab & bounce the sponge to blend the concealer. Do not roll it. After letting it set for a minute or two, dip the same sponge into a tiny bit of loose powder and gently, and I mean barely press the powder over the concealer. Imagine trying to set concealer on someone asleep & trying not to wake them. You can also try using a brush to apply the powder, again gently by rolling the brush over the concealer. I'm not saying this will work for you, but it works for me and its just another method to try. Also try experimenting with different amounts of powder and pressure while applying it. Good Luck!
