Sorry I don't have an answer for you because I used it the other night to try and remove a skin tag and it turned all the skin around the tag black but didn't remove the tag. It's been a few days and it's still black. Has this happened to anyone else?

I used tea tree oil for a while and I found it didn't work significantly for me enough. N it only decreased the size of pimples by a bit but at that time my acne was kinda outta control.

It depends on the tea tree oil... I bought mine years ago at GNC by now brand which worked really well and quick I ran out a couple months ago and new ones I tried is not working. I wonder what happened. I have yet to find a good replacement for my tea tree oil but tea tree oil should work fairly quickly for active acne but I'm not sure it would work on blackheads..

Tea Tree Oil works by not only drying out acne, but it is natural anti-bacterial. It is a fragrant oil, which means sensitive types really need to be light and test patch to be sure it can be used.

It should be diluted if you have purchased full strength. Some varieties come already diluted. Check your ingredients prior to usage. Very important.
I have never suffered from blackheads, other than one or two now and again but when I do, I mix:
3 droplets of tea tree oil and 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel and apply to the blackhead area. I leave it on for 5-10 minutes and then wash, not rinse, but wash it off using CeraVe... with a nubby, all- cotton washcloth. Then, I apply an aloe-based toner and my moisturizer.

My personal Estie swears by BHA's and AHA's for blackhead removal..so obviously she is aware that tea tree is just too risky for use at the salon as it can be irritating. I like it for drying up a stubborn pimple.

I found a great article on treating blackheads here:

There is a coinciding article on how to use AHAs & BHA's and to find which will be best based on your skin type.

I also read raves on Garnier blackhead scrub for oily skin, but I cannot speak from experience. I know Paula's Choice gave it great reviews and she's a REALLY tough cookie.
