Hey everyone! I wanted to share with you my recent struggle with I'm guessing is eczema on my lips. Having said I am a lipstick lover, that is some super sad in the materialistic world of beauty lol. I think this was a cause with some super harsh soap that I tried ONCE it left me with burning swollen lip that persisted on and off until now because it ruined the protective barrier of my skin. I never have any problems with dryness whatsoever so this was very unwelcoming. Anyway, I have used coconut oil, Vaseline, and even steroid cream which I'm totally against because I've seen again and again it would come back even worse (which it did, currently) I was making some diy scrub which called for Manuka honey, ground coffee and olive oil which I would let sit for ten minutes after. Let me tell you what an amazing RELIEF. Afterwards I was pretty astounded so I researched the benefits of Manuka honey and have found that this was used in war times for treating wounds as well as farmers who get hurt and doused his arm in honey. I also read that it kills acne bacteria, lightens blemishes, and helps with eczema so I started putting them on my 4 cystic acne as well as blemishes and the cystic acne flattened it TWO days! I have had that for weeks on end which annoyed me. The blemishes have faded dramatically and I'm still continuing this treatment (I put it for an hour during the day if I have time and I leave it on overnight) My lips are still healing and will update on that! (It's a little hard to keep honey soaked pad for hours without talking or taking it off lol!!)

This is the one I use which has 20+ active enzymes straight from new Zealand's Manuka plant. They recommend 16+ for full benefits.

That's awesome, I've been recommending and using Manuka honey for a year now. I use the medical grade of course, glad it's working out well for you. I even got my estie hooked on it, it's wonderful ☺

Why is it that 16+ is better than 20. I've been using the 16 and saw no improvements :/

Samantha I meant they recommend 16 or higher but 16 should be fine. How are you using the Manuka honey? And how often?

Kitty, I know right! I stumbled upon something amazing lol. Which one do you use kitty?

Manuka honey is amazing! My grandad has a large ulcer on his leg and this is the only thing that helps him!

This honey was a part of joint effort on saving my lips from a horrible reaction to Bite Beauty Lip Mask year. Lanolin is not my friend and it's the dominant ingredient in that product. Turned my lips black. I mean really black. They were cracked and throbbed with extreme pain. Used in conjunction with other natural goodies and one mainstream product from Skinceutricals my lips healed up within a month. But I'm truly convinced that the honey had a lot to do with it. I'm glad to read that you've had great success with it as well. And thank you for such a detailed post.

Shelley! Thank you so much for responding and sharing your story. What other natural products have you used and which skinceutrical product did you use? I'm on day 2 of my lips healing, how long did it take you? It was much faster and easier on other parts as it's not used to talk or eat LOL

I just have to ask all you ladies, I've never heard of this and I'm highly allergic to regular honey (so I'm assuming I'd be allergic to this as well and I'd have the derm check me first), do you think it would help with psoriasis. I stopped using prescription steroids years ago but that didn't stop those medications from messing up my hormone cycle, I'm in my thirties and in menopause. I'm curious on your thoughts on this since I participate actively on psoriasis.org.

Aw kelly... I am no expert in any way but I think if you are allergic to honey, you would probably be allergic to Manuka honey as well. I can see particles in the honey so it is definitely not all the way filtered, and as I mentioned above its high in the potency of the enzymes to fight of infections. But if you're allergic, then it will probably do harm than good.

Livi I realize that, what I'm wondering is if you think it would help other psoriasis sufferers? If so I may post about it for other psoriasis sufferers.

Lol kelly sorry!! I read that too fast. It helps eczema I know for sure but unsure about psoriasis. I can help you research that if you'd like! My kids have eczema so that's all I know it's good for
