I've never tried Boxycharm but I am rarely ever disappointed with my Ipsy bag
It's awesome
However you could check out some Unboxing videos for both bags on YouTube and choose which one you want depending on which seems to have more of your preferred products

Boxycharm costs more, but it's worth every penny! You receive almost exclusively full sized products, and there have been very few duds (in my opinion anyway).

If it's the $10 bit you like, get birchbox. Ipsy was always more disappointing. If you don't care about spending the extra money, boxycharm is supposed to be great.

I've gotten ipsy for 2 years and I adore it! I've only ever been disappointed by maybe one or two bags, but I feel like that happens with any subscription service. There's no way you can love everything you're ever going to get. But, you get some full size, some smaller samples but there's always a good mix of stuff. And the customer service is amazing! In the end Boxycharm is still probably going to be quote better or have bigger products simply because it costs more.
