I have pretty thick hair and it is about medium length. I always love the side braid look but my thick hair tends to create a chunky, loose braid. Any tips or suggestions?

I have a similar problem to you! I have found out that by starting to braid your hair when it is still slightly damp you can keep the shorter pieces of your hair from coming out.

add some pomade to push the little strands inward!
hairspray is also key in fighting those strays!
