Okay so I have extremely oily skin as does my sister and she uses rubbing alcohol as a toner and I was just wondering if anyone one else does that?

I use rubbing alcohol to clear my skin of pimples. But I only use it as spot treatment and it's very drying.

Nooo that is extremely bad for your skin, alcohol dries the skin by completely stripping it of its oils which in turn will cause your sebaceous glands to go into hyperdrive and produce more oil. Not only that, but the constant application of alcohol on the skin will speed up signs of aging and give you that leathery skin look. If you have got acne it can irritate it as well as slow down the heeling process. You should actually strive to avoid any alcohol or keep it to a minimum when choosing skin care products!

I would highly suggest you don't do that. Trust me, my skin was super oily as a teen and I used rubbing alcohol but it made my skin feel tight/dehydrated but more oily as well.
It ended up causing me to get smile lines that I'm using retinal to fade but it was horrible.
Please, DON't use rubbing alcohol on your face. It's not worth it!

I used rubbing alcohol when I was in junior high and high school. Bad move as it made my skin far worse...made my enlarged pores even larger and the burning sensation you feel isn't a good thing either. Not all alcohols are bad. There are fatty alcohols that are actually beneficial to the skin as they are emollients. One's to look out for in a toner for example are...cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol. Don't continue down the path of using rubbing alcohol on your skin because it took me years to undo the damage I caused. Reach for witch hazel that is alcohol free by Thayers and Simple Skincare has an awesome toner that is fragrance and dye free. It's gentle on the skin and leaves it feeling and looking balanced.

Just want to say: Whenever I have a whitehead, and it pops, I immediately sanitize the area with rubbing alcohol, and it usually works great. I definitely wouldn't use it for anything else on my face, but it's awesome for sanitizing a popped zit!
