I want to cover up my now faded highlights; which have gone blonde, and go back to my natural hair colour which is a dark almost black brown. Going to my hair dresser is too expensive so I just want to get a box dye. What are good brands that arent damaging and last long and preferably with natural ingredients?

Box dyes are terrible. I'd almost just say wait for them to grown out. But if you must I'd go to Sally's and get one n only permanent cream dye and a 10 volume developer. No more than a 20 volume though! And then after use a deep conditioner to restore some moisture. Don't heat style your hair for about a week either. Trust me I'm having so many issues with my hair from constantly coloring it with box dyes. Please be careful!

I really like the Loreal Excellence Creme hair color. It has never dried out my hair as much as other drugstore dyes have and I love the conditioner that comes with it as well as the pre color treatment serum.

Sign up with E-Salon. They custom mix a color for you, and they include everything you need in the shipment. You can also tweak your color whenever you want by sending them an email letting them know you want to go lighter, darker, more red, less blonde, whatever. I love that their kits include the stuff you put around your forehead so you don't stain your face with dye, and they also have a little towelette to use if you do get dye on your skin...it also includes shampoo and conditioner. once in awhile they throw in a shine conditioner, as well. Affordable and very reliable!
