Baby Powder Lashes?

Wondering if any of you have tried this tip, before? I've read about it, but this morning was the first time I actually gave it a go...the idea is that you coat your lashes once with mascara, then dust a Q-tip with a little baby powder, swipe that on your lashes, and recoat with mascara. You can continue to do it over and over until you achieve the look you want. The idea is that the mascara sticks to the baby powder and makes your lashes fat and long, much like falsies. I did notice they lengthened significantly; next time, though, I think I'll use my brow brush to apply the powder instead of a Q-tip as I think it might help me to spread the powder out more evenly. Thoughts?

I definitely think a brow brush would work best! I would buy a brand new baby powder specifically to use on your eyes if you're going to do this regularly though. Then poor some onto a seperate little dish and use disposable spoolies each time to avoid contamination. The concept makes sense but your eyes are no joke! Also, your eyes look a little red. Did you find the baby powder got in them a bit? I think that's why I'd be scared to try it. I have very sensitive eyes and baby powder fragrance alone would irritate them

Great idea with the disposable spoolies!! I'll definitely do that. I didn't get any baby powder in my eyes, but I do have my desktop fan pointed directly at my face...I just moved it! :-p Thanks for the suggestions - they're great!

I've heard of it, it's a similar to the mascara bases that do the same thing which I've tried, I haven't tried the baby powder idea though. I would be a little concerned if it's 'healthy' for your lashes I feel like trapping baby powder under mascara all day might be more harmful than just using mascara. As an esthetician and lash extension artist I've seen soo many clients with very damaged lashes from trying different ways to give that longer voluminous look. I haven't studied anything specifically on any issues with this method so I won't say don't do it but definitely be cautious and maybe do it just for special occasions :)

Hi, Sarah -- thanks for the feedback! I haven't read anything negative about it, but it's definitely something to think about.

I think I'd just avoid doing it too often! It definitely could dry tbem out, try using coconut oil on a flat cotton pad to remove. Do not rub, hold it over top of the eye for a few seconds and then slightly rub downwards. This will usually work more effectively and be gentler on your lashes and the oil will help counteract some of that dryness! Me and Sara are always all over these lash posts 😉

LOL Hi, Brittany - thanks! I'm never tried coconut oil. I usually just remove my waterproof eye makeup with Vaseline or an olive-oil based eye makeup remover if I have one handy. My lashes are in great shape - not brittle, dry, or short - knock on wood!

Sounds like a hassle , I'll just stick to falsies lol, but I might try this out. Thanks for sharing 💕

Cindy S. - you are obviously more adept at applying falsies than I am!! LOL I just can't deal with those - can never line them up correctly, and most of the time they're too "short" for my eye. I just am NOT skilled in that area!! I wish that I was...do you have a tutorial or tips that might help a newbie??

Jessica P. - yesterday was the first time I did it, and it came right off with my usual routine so it wasn't too much of a hassle for me. Although today, I didn't use the baby powder. After I completely cleaned my face, I used my brow brush to swipe through my lashes before bedtime...they are VERY long today, just not as thick. :-)

You should look into the tarte lights camera lashes mascara + fibers duo it's amazing and is way easier to use.
