I think I put this in the right category but if I didn't I'm sorry!

I've been very interested in getting a Brazilian wax for FOREVER but I don't know if I should do it or not. I don't have a very good pain tolerance so that's the main reason I've been hesitant but I think getting it done about once a month would be worth the pain rather than shaving every few days.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I think is worth it. I have never shaved but I have a good pain tolerance. If you are planning to do it every month it will hurt less every time. Some advise, schedule it after your period, moisturize the area 2-3 days before with baby bottom cream, exfoliate 24 hrs before. take a pain medication 30 mins before waxing. bikini zone medicated cream helps me with the pain after, also aloe vera gel.

I think that if you do it that you should do it for yourself - I've only ever waxed my legs before so I know how much waxing in general hurts - and I know that I don't ever want to wax my naughty bits.,. Lol I'm married and my hubby always complains about the hair but I always tell him to just deal with it cause hair means I'm an adult n not a child so he should embrace it - either way I still shave so as not to gross him out :P but if it was up to me and I was single I can tell you that I wouldn't ever shave... Lol that's my opinion on shaving in general - I wish I didn't have to but it's just one of those beauty standards that men and/or society places on women today that I don't really agree with but at the same I feel like I have to do it.

I am an esthetician so I wax :) and I had to get it done for the first time when I went to school. Yes it's very uncomfortable and it's pretty painful. I would say go in as if you were getting it wax and just have them start as if they were doing a bikini just so you get the feel of it. Take a pain reliever 30 minutes before you go in. I think it's worth it because then you don't have worry about it until 4-6 wks to do it again.

Personally, I hate body hair, so I get it done. It does hurt, but I take some Advil about half an hour before I get it done. This makes it much more bearable. No matter what, it's still going to be awkward. I've been going to the same person for over a year and I still get uncomfortable from time to time.

Diana, I am doing it for myself, not for anyone else, but thank you.

Thank you, everyone!

I've been thinking about getting one as well considering I HATE body hair and I'm Spanish so I'm practically a gorilla lmao so I have to shave pretty much everyday and I shave EVERYWHERE. So it's pretty much a nuisance and quite time consuming, but I'm just so weirded out about someone being that close to my lady bits and I don't know why. We all have one and they're professionals lol. But ugh... I'm not worried about pain as I have an amazing pain tolerance, very high, but let me know about the experience if you do go through with it. I'm more so just nervous and can't seem to get over the feeling lol.

What positions do you have to go in so they get it all? and are you fully naked like what are the steps and procedures? I've never gotten one done but I want to

I'm an aesthetician as well and of course some people don't get bothered by the pain but there are people who say it's definitely uncomfortable but I've never had a client absolutely hate it and say they won't come back because of the pain! I get it done and am literally the biggest baby ever yet it definitely gets easier and it's really not that bad. It is true that if you keep up with it and get it done every 4 to 6 weeks the pain isn't as bad each time which is why I'm able to handle it. I say go for it, obviously do your research on where you go. It's amazing how many bad Brazilians I've seen and had. Good luck!

They have numbing creams you can get. Another option is have them use an ice pack and that really helps.
I've don't laser hair removal and using ice beforehand really helps.
I've had a Brazilian wax and it didn't hurt as much as when I had laser hair removal on certain areas

Definitely do it and ask for hard wax, it doesn't hurt as much but not a lot of waxing places have if

I have been waxing for 2 years now and I love it!! But it depens the method the aesthetician uses..I am not english but I will try to explain. I like the method where she uses her finger to apply and remove wax because its less painfull and it won't damage your skin.Once you get used its a life savior..the first time it might be awkward and I Hope she makes it easy and comfo for you. Go for it :)))

Alicia, it depends on the aesthetician on the positions. Everyone has their little ways that may be easier for them to do the service. I started a new job a few months ago and my boss is insane with waxing she's soo good so I've learned a lot from her and she's really good with making all her clients feel comfortable as well which is really important. Usually you'll just be on your back at first, and they'll have you bring your right leg in so your foot is touching or near your knee so it's angled out, then they'll have you do the same position with your left leg *right leg is placed back normally which helps the client be more comfortable position wise and they're not as exposed and spread open when it's unnecessary* then they will have you flip over on your stomach to get the behind area. Then it's done! It's really not that complicated. If they're good at what they do you shouldn't have to be in 10 different positions they should be able to get everything with as little movement from you as possible. Do you have to be fully naked? No not at all. You strip down from the waist down, you can keep your socks on and shirt of course. You will be covered with a paper sheet as well. So when they're working on the right side it'll be draped over everything but that area. When they're working on the top it's completely covering your vaginal area. A good aesthetician will make sure you're coveted everywhere except that one area they're working on at that moment so you don't feel so exposed. Hope this helped you and any other ladies on here who maybe had the same question

I have a high tolerance for pain but I believe it's totally worth it. Over time it definitely gets easier, and Advil can help with the pain. Other things that can help are deep breathing and distraction (talking to the aesthetician, etc). Something to keep in mind is that you're going to have to get used to some regrowth between waxes (unlike with shaving where the hair can be a bit shorter). Hard wax is more gentle on delicate skin than strip wax. Sugaring could also be a great option because it's so gentle, but it can be hard to find places that offer it. The most important thing is to find a reputable waxer who doesn't double dip and to do lots of research beforehand to know what to expect. And remember to try to relax because tension will make it hurt more. The fear, awkwardness, and discomfort will reduce over time once you get the first one over with (and if you keep up with it). Good luck! :)

These ladies gave some great advise. One thing to watch for: if the esthetician dips the same wooden stick into the wax to get more wax. That's a big no no. He/she should be only dipping the wand into the wax one time and that's it, no double dipping.
