I was just wondering if you had some advice to share on putting makeup on older women. I have been doing my grandmothers and my mothers makeup, they are 45 and 65. What do you think is appropriate for that age?

Watch Wayne Goss on YouTube, he does make up for older women and one of his main ladies he uses for tutorials is 40+ (:

Thicker dark brows and blush on the high points of the cheeks makes one look a lot younger >_<

Avoid powders, older skin tends to b dry a powder would make it worst, use anti aging foundation like Lancôme renergie lift, you can still set it w a little translucent powder, on the eyes you have to lift there lid and keep blending to make sure there's no gaps in between wrinkles

Apply as little liquid/cream makeup as you possibly can considering it would sink into fine lines more, lightly dust with translucent powder. On older women, a 'duey' foundation is always best, you want the skin to appear as if it's glowing. NEVER put blush on the apples of the cheeks because once the person stops 'smiling' during a blush application, the color will pull down the face and make it appear as if the face is sinking and sad. I always find a more neutral less harsh brow more flattering on older women. Steer WAY clear of liquid liner, and if you use it, smudge it with a similar colored shadow to make it looks less harsh. Apply a nude colored pencil to the waterline opposed to a darker one to really open up the eyes and give a more awake and bright appearance. I tend to avoid matte shadows on older women because I feel it looks horrible on eyelids that are looser than youthful skin, and a highlighter on the cheekbones on is a must, I always use high beam by Benefit and a VERY little amount. Avoid dark lips if the person has really visible deep lip line wrinkles, it will make the lips appear pouty and almost draggy. (No shade towards drag queens, I love them and would DIE to be as beautiful as one, but most women don't think like me)
When it comes to older women in makeup, sadly less is always more. A fresh, clean, glowing face with a natural eye is the most beautiful look a woman over 40 could wear.

Stay away from shimmery shadows because it will make wrinkles more noticible!

A line filling smoothing primer will definitely help stop anything from sinking into lines and wrinkles. Try to stay matte and accentuate the high points on the face.
