Okay, I don't have anything against "natural beauty" but this has become a major pet peeve of mine. I am getting so tired of why natural beauty is praised a lot more than makeup and the effort behind it. I will never understand it.

Who cares what people want to see me as? Majority of people look like a bunch of frumps in sweat pants, so who cares about a colouring book? Plus, colouring books are fun.

Haha at rikki , I agree :)

To be honest, make up is really meant to make us feel more confident in our skin. For some its natural looking make up, for others its using make up colorfully to express themselves. Make up is an art, its what you make of it.

I mean, really, the amount of people that literally don't give a shit when you're walking down the street is astounding. People on YouTube and makeup forums seem to have this idea in their head that the public really make a huge deal about colour on a face, when in reality, it doesn't happen. There is no Vancouver Riot pulled outside when a bunch of people are outside with blue eyeshadow or gold lipstick. Nobody's ever come up to me or anyone else I've seen with colour on and said, "You have too much makeup on!" or make a face. Well, someone did turn a head when I wore blue lipstick to the grocery store but then they went on to buy their chicken.

I agree with Rikki. Just do what makes you feel good. If you want to I natural, go for it. If you want to look "like a coloring book", do it! Makeup isn't a rule, it's not something to be a slave to. Have fun with it and just do what you want. If you end up hating how it looks, just wipe it off and start again. If someone tells you they don't like it, tell them to go pound sand because you look fantastic! Just do whatever you want, have fun with it.

Yes, I agree with Kayli. If you want to wear the NAKED palette everyday for the rest of your life, do so. If you want to wear Sugarpill everyday, do so. (Yeah, I know those aren't the only brands, but you see where I'm doing with with colour vs neutral with these two things alone.) It's not the idea that people wear neutrals all the time that is so frustrating, it's the stigma attached to bold makeup when, unless there's a dress code saying no, IT DOESN't MATTER.

I'm sorry, I'm a bit incorrect there. The conservative Republican dudes up in Congress will care oh so much about what goes on a woman, but other than that, it's usually whatever.

And in the public eye, some makeup is appreciated, but 9 times out of 10 it's "natural beauty". There are no makeup commercials that say "hey put this red crap on your face because you're beautiful no matter what you wear". It just doesn't happen. It's mostly "no makeup makeup" or "wearable vs. not". Drag queens get loads of attention, and I love that, when they're being appreciated for how much effort they put in.

I totally love bright colors but sometimes I prefer a natural look. It just depends on a persons taste on whether they like color or natural better :)

Alma, I wear that every Sunday to church.
(... I don't go to church... I'm an Atheist... but yeah.)

Btw Rikki, I love the blue lipstick your wearing in your profile picture! Very daring! I wore purple the other day :)

Thank you, Georgia! It's Inglot lipstick in 287 (http://guikosmetik.blogspot.com/2012/12/inglot-pacific-blue-of-collection-287.html)! The formula's a bit crap and annoying, but the shade is beauuuuuuuuuutiful. Of course, I'm a bit biased since this is my favourite colour, hahaha.

Thanks :) It is a really beautiful color. Do you have any ideas for me to use colored eyeshadow? I have a hard time using it.
Feb 19, 2013
Rikki P.
Inglot is a Polish brand and available in a few states and Canadian locations. Inglot has many colours from pinks, nudes, to fuchsia like shades!
If you don't have a hang on bright shadows, I'd just use them as a lid colour or on the lower lashline.

That's a good Idea! I think I will try it and maybe post a picture :)

Rikki, you have me laughing over here! Especially with the political statement.LMBO! I really don't pay attention to what society favors when it comes to make-up. I live in super conservative Northeast Florida and I get a kick outta going to PTA meetings wearing the brighest lippies in my collection. And don't get me started on the eye colors. If someone wants to rock natural or go all out with color then I'm happy for them. Its art regardless of the intensity.

Maybe because it takes a lot of self esteem and confidence for a woman to be herself as fakery and enhancements at pushed in woman everyday by the media Si if a woman feels good in her own skin good on her, she has my respect!

Hahahaha, Shelley, I couldn't help myself! The NC government dudes have been getting on my NERVES lately this week so I just can't stop including comments about them. Tee hee!
