I haven't really tired that many bb creams but some can be very runny and have a thin consistency, while others that I have used have been really thick. It all depends on the brand you get and the country it is from

One of the best rated BB cream is the Laura mercier tinted moisturizer and it a Beauty Balm (BB) because its a moisturizer Thant contains SPF and it gives you coverage. So a 3 in 1 kinda deal! Love it!

In the UK I have tried about 6 different ones and their brilliant! Garnier and Clinique are really good for coverage and stopping blemishes coming back! Also L'oreal's is easy to get worldwide and as good as foundation! Depends on skin type of course but for oily combination skin I find them really good so far!

BB Creams are supposed to be a tinted moisturizer and a sunscreen - basically, a replacement for foundation and moisturizer. It may have great coverage. Over here in the US, most of the drugstore bb creams are just tinted moisturizers rather than the thicker Asian bb creams.
