Which brand of liquid eyeliner is really good? and how do I apply liquid eyeliner without stabbing myself in the eye all the time?

Well when you apply it look down thn your not stabbing

I've noticed that its a lot easier to use a gel liner as oppose to a liquid liner. You get the same effect and you have more control when applying it. MAC fluid line is a great option or Bobbi Brown's gel eyeliner works well too. To apply the liner I would just use an ultra fine eyeliner brush or some type of angled brush.
