I think you should go for the shave! ;) My hair looks a lot like yours. Its shaved on one side & long on the other. Tho I've had it like that since summer last year, its grown out a lot. I'm going to have it shaved shortly aswell. So I say go for it..

Just me personally, but if I were to grow that out, I'd get a pixie cut and then grow it all out evenly.

Try growing it out for a month or two see how you like it and if you don't you can always shave it right off.
