My hair is mid length and thin so I tend to wear extensions how can I style my hair with extensions to make them look naturally curly.

If you have a curling wand, just curl your hair & run your fingers through it to create a natural look. or you could check youtube for some heatless curling methods for both, your natural hair & the extentions. hope that helps :)

Would you say a curling wand is better than using the straighteners to curl? are their any wands you would recommend?

Well, my hair is kind of thick and it's hard using a straightener to curl my hair because it doesn't stay, so I recommend a curling iron :)
