Somebody once showed me how you can wrap very small sections of hair around the tail of a tail comb and it makes these really, really tight little curls. You might need something a little bit thicker than that, the curls aren't quite that tight I don't think, or maybe just use slightly bigger sections of hair if they're too tight. This would be sooo time consuming but for a special occasion maybe you could be bothered to do it. A perm would definitely be less effort! But just a suggestion of something you could try that would be less permanent x

Try putting wrags in! It's where you twist small sections of your hair as tight as you can Then take a piece of cloth cut into small thin sections and wrap the hair around it towards the scalp then tie the ends of the rag!
Sleep with it like that then take it out in the morning and it will be crazy curly!!!!!!
