Are facials good or bad for the skin?

I say good, but it all depends on your skin sensitivity. Some facials could be really bad for sensitive skin and could make it break out. And others are good and leave your skin soft and refreshed.

Never had one. From what I was told it can help clear up acne, might hurt a bit though.

There are a lot of facials that are specific to certain conditions - whether it's for acne, microdermabrasion, pore-minimizing, etc. Sometimes those types of facials use mild to strong chemicals to treat whatever skin issue you may have.
If the facial you're getting isn't targeted for a specific condition, then it probably won't contain any strong chemicals, so it should be alright for sensitive skin. Getting a facial is usually a pleasant experience and generally good for the skin, so enjoy it! :]

Yes facials are very beneficial!!! But of course if your esthetician uses something that you are allergic to than you could have a problem!! But being very open with your esthetician about any skin conditions should discourage any problems like that!

As long as your esthetician is knowledgeable and experienced then you have nothing to worry about. Facials are meant to be customized to what you skin needs and maybe a little relaxation too. Depending on what's being done they can be very soothing I used to fall asleep during the facial massage and put people asleep when I gave facials!

A great Esthetician will ask you if you've ever received a facial, what products you use along with how often. And ask if you have allergies or are taking medications. If they don't, you need to communicate so you get the best possible results from your treatment! Also, extractions, should you need them, shouldn't be excruciating. If it hurts, speak up! Like I said, a good Esthetician will ask these things, make recommendations (without pressuring to buy), make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Enjoy!
