hey girls,
do any of you know whether patting on or rubbing face moisturizer makes any difference to the results?
Feb 5, 2013
Stephanie R.
Rubbing can lead to self exfoliation, patting sometimes the product does not absorb fully. It depends on the products.

hmm ok, so what do u think is best?

Yes it depends on the product. I have a moisture gel that is a pat on only because rubbing/massaging in breaks down its collagen properties therefore losing its key benefit. I usually pat all on because of this reason for other products anyway just to he safe.

This girl doesn't explain it all but she covers the basic conception.

Pat, Rubbing Causes Irrtitation

I've heard that rubbing causes irritation, but honestly, it takes me forever to pat in the moisturizer, and most of the time it feels too heavy anyway. I've gone back to rubbing it in - I do my best to work lightly.

Besides, I never actually scrub my skin to get my moisturizer to absorb, so I honestly don't think it matters.

Gently massage into skin. If it feels like it's pulling, you're probably using too much pressure. Serums you usually press firmly into the skin.

With my serums I pat. Moisturizers I use short strokes to rub in product in sections as oppossed to just dumping some in my hand and just rubbing all over.
