So I've been using WEN cleansing conditioner for about 6 months now, and I love it. I order it through QVC and tell everyone I know about it. But recently and friend of mine who ordered it, hated it and gave me her bottle. I was sorry to have recommended something that didn't work for her, but it was already said and done, so ooh well. Anyways, last night I ran out of mine and reached for the new bottle she gave me and noticed it had a different scent and texture, I turned it over to read the ingredients and they were different than the one I already had, drastically different actually.

So while the one I order from QVC or ChazDean.com contains mostly water, Aloe Vera, and Chamomile Extract, the one from WENHairCare.com contains mostly water, Glycerin and Cetyl Alcohol.

These are both WEN sweet almond mint cleansing conditioners, supposedly identical products. even the online list of ingredients changes from site to site:

Chazdean.com
Sweet Almond Mint: Water, Aloe Vera Gel, Glycerin, Chamomile Extract, Cherry Bark Extract, Calendula Extract, Rosemary Extract, Behentrimonium Chloride, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Cetyl Alcohol, Emulsifying Wax, Panthenol, Trimethylsilylamodimethicone, Hydrolyzed Whole Wheat Protein, PEG-60, Almond Glycerides, Menthol, Essential Oils, Citric Acid, Methylchoroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance.

WenHairCare.com
Water, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Prunus Serotina (Wild Cherry) Bark Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Vegetable Oil (Olus Oil), Panthenol, Butylene Glycol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Polysorbate 60, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides, Amodimethicone, Citric Acid, Menthol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance, Limonene, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Geraniol, Benzyl Benzoate, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Hydroxycitronellal.C960

What the heck!? I emailed customer service and have yet to hear back, I am so confused and irritated that I have been recommending a product to people that may or may not be the same thing I use. So anyway, I wanted to let my fellow or potential WEN users know where to find the good and bad versions of WEN.

So far ChazDean.com and QVC are the only reliable sources for the more natural, original WEN that I know and love. Alternately, steer clear of the (not much) cheaper and less nourishing versions of WEN at WENHairCare.com and even Sephora.

It's unfortunate that now I have to do research to make sure I'm getting the right version of Sweet Almond Mint cleansing conditioner, but at least I figured it out sooner than later and hopefully none of you will make the same mistake.
