how light does your hair have to be for purple shampoo to make your hair silver/lilac ?

I have only used violet toning shampoos (to turn it violet/silver) on my hair when it was bleached down to white... I mean I think you can use it on a darker blonde, but I don't think it will turn it violet or silver unless it is bleached really quite pale

Even baby blonde, which is what I have. You have to be careful with purple shampoos if you have light blonde or platinum hair. It turns it a weird lilac/grayish color. I use mine once a week.
