I thought conditioner is just basically a softener for ur hair...because the water in the shower is rough on it?? I heard shampoo is the soap, and conditioner is the softener (think washing clothes)

Vanessa that was what I thought. I'm guessing co washing works best on people whose hair doesn't get a little oily or greasy after a day of two. Mine is prone to a little oil if I don't shampoo it almost daily so co washing would only work on me probably for one day at best.

Shampooing is actually for your scalp. But, while its there, it alters the pH balance of your hair incidentally, so conditioner resets it. Co washing is done with certain products meant for it, not just any old conditioner. And using a two in one (like head n shoulders) is not the same either.
