(2019) Jishaku Brush 23: Liquid Foundation

I ordered this, and patiently waited for its arrival. Big disappointment. I only wish I had seen the review left by Julie K. as I would have saved myself from the same experience! What a waste of my money...

Ok, when I was shopping for a stippling brush I came into a big issue--they're not popular anymore so companies don't really produce them like they used to! So here I am, worried I will never find a stippling brush. Then a friend told me to try the Rae Morris brush 23 and I was interested once I saw the shape. So I went ahead and gave it a shot and the application is superb for my cream blush and bronzer. Never using another brush again and for a very good reason.

This is made very well and while I have never tried the original version of this brush, I am pretty impressed that a stippling brush can be made so well. It did not leave streaks on my face but I do see how it could with liquid products. I use this for bronzer/contour cream products and I use circular motions to buff product into my skin.

Side note--also extremely easy to clean since it's 1) synthetic and 2) has a tapered finish

I went ahead and ordered this brush despite the bad reviews because it's the closest Rae Morris has to a stippling brush, which is one of my favorite types of brush. I agree with the other reviews. For traditional liquid foundation it was underwhelming. It also can't serve as a traditional dual fiber stippling brush for use with powder. But I have been really happy with the brush for syrum foundations. I pump directly onto the brush and it blends oily/watery consistencies beautifully into the skin. I also found this is great for blending out cream pot foundations like the RMS uncoverup. You still have to apply to the face with something else since it will not pick up cream product very well. But because of that, it's great for lightly picking up cream blush and blending it out.

I was so excited to receive this brush. I have been using the Rae Morris liquid foundation brush from the former 2nd collection and it has been my go to all time favourite foundation brush for the past two years. I loved the former brush so much that I wanted to purchase another which led me to this brush. I was initially disappointed but thought that if she has reinvented the collection it can only be better, if that’s possible. I was soooo wrong, this new brush is just all kinds of wrong. The brush hairs are stiff and dense they don’t splay and it is impossible to buff the foundation in the skin. The hairs just kind of follow each other around the face which leaves a lot of streaking. They feel like thick cheap nylon which is not soft at all. I don’t know what the hell kind of material the bristles are made of but it’s horrid. I really don’t understand how a beautiful soft amazing blending/buffing brush can be replaced with “this thing”. I have tried washing it to see if the bristles soften and give a bit but sadly to no avail and it has stained already. Needless to say this is a huge disappointment and I’m gutted I have wasted my hard earned cash on such a rubbish product. I’m so upset I am considering binning it.
