Beauty Product Reviews
Not like any of your other brushes in the best way possible
I already have three other Wayne Goss brushes (two eye brushes and also #10) but was wanting more brushes for my face, and did hesitate because of the price, I won’t lie. But I’ve had these for about a week now and am pretty blown away at the way these change the whole way I do my makeup (after 30+ years). I watched a couple of online videos about what each one is best for (including Wayne’s of course) and I think this is important if you are going to get the most out of these because I learned a lot from them and am using some of these differently than I might have otherwise. The best part of these, or at least what makes them different than almost all of my other brushes is the way they all (except #2) come to a very fine point at the end that allows an amazing amount of precision while still being very soft so that they pick up just the right amount of product (some brushes that come to a point like this tend to be firmer IMO). I was able to easily do a gorgeous eye with minimal effort and perfect blending, which has been a bit of a struggle over the past couple of years as aging has given me more hooded eyes and I’ve had to change the way I’ve always done them. I was also very happy to find a brush that could perfect my under eye concealer struggles; it’s been hard finding something the right size that also will buff it in to all the crevices without removing too much. It also doesn’t hurt that they’re just beautiful to look at and super soft, which everyone has been saying already. I just wanted to say that if you are on the fence and hesitating because of the price, that it’s totally worth taking the plunge like I did.
You’ll never want another eye pencil brush.
I never really liked any of the eye pencil brushes I had ever bought before this, so I am not sure why I even gave this one a try but at risk of sounding like an exaggeration — this brush has changed my (makeup) life! Honestly it is the impossible combination of soft but firm enough, it picks up just the right amount of product, holds onto it, and then lays it down just where you want it. It is soft enough to smooth almost any eyeshadow down and even blend it to some extent. I’ve had mine for two or three years now and it has not shed hairs nor lost its shape in spite of nearly daily use and many many washings. It has more than paid for itself with its usefulness and reliability. I sometimes consider getting another to have with my travel brushes but have not (since there are so many other brushes I want to try). I don’t own too many brushes of this brand due to price, but I would never hesitate to buy another Chikuhodo brush when I need one because quality is never a mistake.
Mixed feelings
I got this in my Lucky Bag, otherwise I wouldn’t have chosen this as I was not familiar with this brand or YouTuber and these colours wouldn’t appeal on first glance. I have had it for several months and have hesitated to review it because I am still not sure how I feel about it, but at this point it’s sitting in my makeup cupboard untouched for the last couple of months so I guess I can say it’s not for me. In spite of the fact that there appears to be lots of colours here to chose from, there are really only one or two looks you can ultimately create with this palette as somehow several of them all end up looking very similar on the eye, and even the lighter ones don’t allow for an everyday look — it really only allows for a very “done” “YouTuber” eye (in berry tones) so if that’s what you’re after then this may be just the thing. A few of the colours just don’t even make sense together imo. There is also a lot of kickback and I have found the quality inconsistent and blending sometimes smudgy or patchy. There are a couple of good colours so I hesitate to throw it out but I just would not pay this much for it, nor would I buy from this brand again based on this palette.
Gorgeous colour for cooler skin tone
This might be the perfect colour for a very fair but cool olive skin tone. It’s so natural looking once blended in.... but honestly that’s my only reservation about this product - that I don’t find it that easy to either pick up from the pan nor blend (I find it best to use a stiffer, small brush). I also feel that there isn’t much product in the pan for the price but it’s not my everyday bronzer so I can live with it, and not much is needed at a time anyway. I usually use Hourglass as I prefer a powder product for bronzers and blush but this is beautiful for times when I’m going to use cream blush for a natural look and don’t want to mix creams and powders.
The only neutral or grey palette you’ll ever need, ever
TBH I’ve never bought Jeffrey Star before but based on the quality of this palette I absolutely wouldn’t hesitate to again. Most of his previous palettes have been a little to “glam” for my tastes or needs but when I saw the gorgeous assortment of greys and neutrals in this one (so hard to find it seems) — I didn’t hesitate and was waiting for my chance to grab it as soon as Beautylish had it in stock. Anyone of any age can completely rock anything from a basic everyday look to an all-out smoky glittering glam eye with this palette ....and all the colours I’ve tried so far blend beautifully. I agree with other reviews that suggest a finger (or a damp brush) for best results from the shimmer/sparkle shades, but if you actually want a more subdued look with them (and not such a wet look) then a dry brush will do. I honestly think I’m done shopping for any more palettes this year after this one; I won’t be able to top this.
Impressed - and I wasn’t expecting that
I was actually colour matched first in a store and given a sample, otherwise I would be reluctant to choose a colour on line, and also probably would have picked a lighter colour as I am an NC 15 or 20 at most, and many foundations oxidize dark on me thru the day. My skin does have a gold undertone in spite of being quite fair. I ended up being 3Fair and do not have problems with oxidization as long as I use primer and set it. I find it gives a lovely sheer application with a beauty blender but I can also get a decent application when I am in a hurry with my fingers (usually tap a B.B. on after), just goes on heavier. My skin is combo and I love that this is hydrating and doesn’t aggravate and amplify the drier areas and also doesn’t look too oily or slide around in the oilier parts. It also gives a nice poreless look without looking at all heavy, as promised. I have previously been using Guerlain, and while I considered that an HG foundation, I would rate this equal and easier to apply. I have also used Giorgio Armani and while it is pretty hard to top for a nice finish I won’t buy it again because of,the limited colour selection; I have found a much better colour match with this foundation and to me tha is more important as the key to a nice finish is really application technique.
Cashmere & Minx and I am in love!
I was the amazingly lucky recipient of Minx palette in my Lucky Bag (I know!!!!) and this was my introduction to Viseart. Naturally I fell in love with its sleek neat packaging which also holds a lot of product -- and what fabulous product it is! I was so impressed with how deeply pigmented they are, yet also apply so smoothly -- I could compare it to Natasha Denona in butteriness but I bought a bunch of her palettes when they first came out and was not as impressed as I found her colour combinations strange and had tons of fallout in comparison. I used the Minx for a few weeks before breaking down and buying the Cashmere too (along with an amazing blush palette!) and I love Cashmere even more, as I love the more neutral palette colours. The colour combinations of these Theory palettes are just georgeous, and I have to say of these two I am not disappointed in the performance of any of the individual colours -- all apply well, and most do not have any or much fallout (except for one or two of the Minx colours). These have just ruined me for other brands now, even in spite of the price. I will be saving up to get more of the Viseart palettes as well as the second blush one.
Just a Beautiful Glow
This just exceeded my expectations. I was afraid it would be "too much" - go on too heavy, the blush too strong a coral, the highlighter too shiny or glittery. It was none of these... of course with Viseart as I am learning you need a light hand in the application (you can always build) but keeping this in mind I was so delighted to be able to create a very natural and healthy warm flush with this palette. My skin is warm to neutral (I seem to be able to get away with warm or cool colours, depending on how I pull it together) so I wasn't sure which blush palette to order but I am so glad I ordered this first as it looks so healthy and natural on me.... but now I am craving the Enamored palette (will save up for that definitely)! Each colour went on smoothly with soft brushes (recommend ones that are not dense though), only the slightest blending (easy to do with these) and you are done. If only there were more colours!
Too good to be true - but it was!!
This was my first Lucky bag and I sure did get lucky - every item I unwrapped I couldn’t believe what amazing stuff I was sent - ALL great products, no duds, all awesome quality and value. This morning I added the value all up and it was around $180 worth of products AND it was all things I would definitely buy myself! I am especially in love with my Wayne Goss eye crease brush (I have bought other Wayne Goss brushes - love!) and the Viseart palette - so buttery and blendable I will definitely be buying more of those!! Also a Natasha Denona lip palette in some beautiful pinks (just dyed my hair pink so that should look lovely) and a z-palettes that I set about filling right away. Plus more. I can’t wait for next year’s! I hope not too many people hear about these though, or there will not be enough to go around....
