Beauty Product Reviews
I love this!
This is the ONLY Intense I-Color trio I like, unfortunately. The formula is great, it's buildable color so you can go subtle or bold without having to sit there for an hour and use up a lot of product. It shimmers without having that glittery look which is perfect for my style. It's easy to work with, using a sponge applicator or a brush. It blends together beautifully which is why this is my everyday look. Unlike the other Intense I-Color trios I feel these colors actually look good and go together! I do love this and I get so many compliments on my eyes and I notice most of the time I'm wearing these colors, I'm not changing my routine and I will definitely be buying this more than once.
Just don't like the colors.
Almay makes good products, their color choice is just off! The product itself is buildable so you're able to make it as light or as dark as possible, save the darkest shade, that one is a bit heavy and to get it light only about two hairs on your brush get to have pigment on them. With this specific palette though it's almost as if the pink shade was so light that it didn't look like I put anything on where as the darkest shade was so heavy it looked like I was in a bar fight. It was definitely a balancing act trying to get this trio to work for me. Also I'm not a fan of the silver color at all. It just didn't look very nice on me.
Everything I want in a liquid eyeliner!
It has an easy applicator, I just apply a little bit to the center and then use a brush for the rest. The applicator also makes it easy to flick out a wing and get it perfect on both sides. The color is beautiful, it's not just plain, muddy brown it has a shimmer to it which compared to my brown pencil makes a beautiful and lightening difference. It stays put! Even WITHOUT pressing powder into it this eyeliner won't run or smudge, it'll fade a little but that's expected without powder. I can see why some people have trouble with the applicator, since it's felt tipped it doesn't have the flexibility one would need if they were applying this using only the provided applicator. But hey, that's what makeup brushes are for.
Too bold for my taste.
I'm definitely more of a natural makeup look kind of girl, especially with the eyes. But, I thought I'd try something new so I bought this. Big mistake. It is currently taking up space in my makeup box until I figure out what I'm going to do with it. First off, the blue shade was just way too much for me, as soon as I touched the color to my lid I thought, "and this is supposed to go on my whole lid?!" I didn't finish the look, I swiped it off and grabbed a much more muted palette. One night though I was daring enough (and possibly in the mindset of "I bought it, I want to use it at least once") so I grabbed this palette with the comfort of knowing that my destination was a dark place and no one would really be able to see anyway. I muted the blue so much, there was barely anything on my brush and I still felt like it looked way too heavy. But I did finish the look and formula wise, Almay is great. Their eyeshadows are buildable, pretty and true to their color. The product itself is not bad at all, it's just the colors that I really don't like. Except for the midtone, that one is quite nice.
It feels nice, looks nice and lasts!
Okay so first off I just wanna say the swatch of 12 on this site looks so dull compared to what the actual color is. It is quite vibrant I think and that's exactly why I bought it! So anyway, I prime and line my lips and I apply this with a brush and it lasts quite a while! The color doesn't wash away when you put it on even if you don't block your natural lip color. Maybe it's my primer but I don't find that I have to reapply a lot. The color stays on my lips for a good while unless of course I'm eating or drinking. What I love most is that it feels lightweight but still has pigment. It doesn't feel waxy or cakey at all.
I can't get it to last.
I don't have oily lids, I use an eye primer but it still won't last. It smudges very easily even after it's dry, even after powder pressed in. It never lasts for me. I'm lucky if it lasts past one hour it seems. I usually apply a fairly thin line to the center lash line of my lid and push it to where I want it with a brush, then press black powder in it to make it last but it doesn't. The powder helps it stick around for a little longer than leaving it as is but not by much. Other reviews say it lasts forever and that has NEVER been my experience with this.
No clumps, no flake!
Normally I comb through my lashes, apply mascara then comb through again to separate the lashes and get all the clumps out. This mascara made that routine MUCH shorter. I always dab off excess product onto a tissue and that gets rid of potential clumps but this applicator is really fantastic. I never get any clumps, I only do one little sweep through my lashes after applying to separate any buddies and it's never flaked. I really do like this mascara.
This works wonders!
I apply it with my finger from my lid up to my brow, a little goes a long way. It evens the color out and makes a good blank canvas. It holds eyeshadows in place but I find some of my eyeliners don't exactly like to stick around even with powder pressed in. That could be fault of the eyeshadow, the eyeliner or both. This is the first eye primer I've bought and I'm very happy with it. It lasts a good while too!
It's okay.
I know on the bottle it says "100% poreless" which is just a little marketing fib. The coverage is okay, it doesn't look cakey but it feels cakey to me and I really hate that feeling. It evens out my skin tone which honestly isn't hard to do because I don't have much discoloration so for someone with little or no discoloration in their complexion it should be a fine base color wise. It's not sweat proof at all, even with powder pressed in it felt like my face was melting off and it was rubbing off onto my phone and I don't use much product. It's just really not for extended wear for that reason.
