Beauty Product Reviews
This is honestly the best brush I own.
I don’t know how else to describe it, it’s truly unique and not like other foundation brushes. It buffs liquid foundation onto the skin with an airbrushed finished and the bristles are like kissing your skin. It’s probably my favorite brush of all time, and I absolutely love that is sits on its base, more companies need to take note of that, it’s what women want! Thanks Wayne!
This is hands down the best foundation I have tried this year. My normal go-to is CT Light Wonder, this surpasses that formula in terms of coverage and longevity. As others have said, the finish is not nearly as dewy as one would think, it’s incredibly flattering even on large pores and imperfections. I can build this to medium-full. One douse of setting spray, (I use CT) and this foundation locks all day even under a mask, and never makes my skin feel dry or look cakey. Huge win here.
Yes, it really is that good.
YES, the price point is ridiculous. However, YES, the hype is real, and YES, it really is worth it.
NO, there is no drugstore eyeliner that is just as good, and NO, there aren't any dupes that compare.
Close your eyes, take a drink, and just make your finger hit the checkout button before you put too much thought into it. You won't regret it.
3.5 Stars. It is what it is. Its not what WG suggests, though.
"Instagram filter in a tube" is why we all bought this, right? Wayne Goss was so excited about this product, and I'm glad he loves it, but the rest of us mere mortals need to temper our expectations a bit.
I've been playing with this for several days, and I have some thoughts. As for the Instagram filter claim, its semi-true to some extent. When you initially apply it, you kind of look like you have the Valencia filter on, in terms of color. The product immediately turns me slightly orangeish-bronze, but after a few minutes subdues back to somewhat my normal skin shade. I wore it to work and people remarked that I looked much more "glowy" and "summery" than usual, and they complimented my face. If that is all you are expecting out of this product, you will probably love it. What this product does not do, however, is have any kind of blurring effect or smooth the skin. My pores and texture were slightly emphasized, rather than hidden. On a second try, I did apply this with a small amount of my Tatcha pore minimizing sunscreen underneath, and the results were considerably better pore wise, but still not enough that I felt totally confident in my skin with no additional coverage.
Like another poster, I tried this under makeup, specifically Charlotte Tilbury's Light Wonder foundation, and at around 4 hours of wear my very dry skin was so oily that even my eye makeup was sliding around near my temples. That is a first for me, I'm dry as the Sahara thanks to years of retin-A.
My other negative is that there is a relative small amount of product in the tube for the price, especially considering I have to apply to my neck and décolletage in order to get everything to match. If I used this every day, on all three areas, it may last me 2 weeks, tops.
Shockingly good
I was a little worried about this product, to be honest, the color on the pencil and the swatches look pretty dark compared to what I'm used to. (FTR I have somewhere between an NC20/25 skin tone). I always use a light flesh toned or white pencil in my water line to make my eyes look more awake, and have been using an inexpensive drug store brand for years, because I figured most nude toned pencils were the same. I've been such a fool. Not only did this pencil brighten up my eyes beautifully, it lasted ALL DAY. I got a solid 10 hours of wear from this, I didn't think that was possible. I was stunned. This kohl pencil is well worth the money, and has achieved holy grail status in my makeup case, its top shelf all the way!!!
I will never live without this product in my life, ever again.
I hate to sound dramatic, (who am I kidding, I'm a total drama queen), but when I applied this product for the first time, I swear I heard angels sing from upon high, and the earth shook beneath my feet. I cannot believe I was on the fence with this product for so long, I'm kicking myself for deleting it out of my cart with my previous purchases.
I turned 40 a few months back and have since started having issues with powder of any kind of my face. Powder, placed anywhere other than my eyelids, (and maybe even there too, idk), has begun to make my face look dry, cakey, and cracked, no matter where I put it. I decided to experiment with all cream/gel products on my face, and skip all powder products, and that quest led me to this little gem. I am BLOWN AWAY with how beautiful this is. Those of you who may be worried that it will just sink in and wear off in an hour, have no fear. I wore this for 8 hours and was still glowing like a goddess after a full day of work.
Now, does this have the PAWPOW, in your face kind of power that, say, a JS powder has? No, but you also don't have any glitter chunks in this. Does it have the Tin Man like effect that the Cover FX drops have? No, but it lasts 5 times as long and makes your cheek look damp and hydrated and glowing, rather than straight up metallic shiny.
Also, I have straight up neutral undertones, I don't pull pink or golden anymore, and I'm somewhere between a NC20/NC25. The Magic Luminizer is perfect on me, it doesn't look too cool or too warm. To me the color comes off similar to Cover FX Moonlight drops.
Lastly, (and I shouldn't have to say this, but I know at least one person has tried this), as another reviewer pointed out, don't try to put this over powder. Never try to put a cream or liquid over a powder.
Some splurges are well worth the $$$
I would give this product 10 stars if I could. I'm not even sure where to begin.
I just turned 40 and beginning the battle of the issues that come with aging skin. More specifically, I'm starting to have issues with any and all powder products on my face looking cakey and old, no matter how much moisturizer, primer, or setting spray I use. I've tried cream blushes in the past, and have had mediocre results at best. My one major complaint is that they tend to have zero lasting power, or they are so pigmented you look like a clown rather than sinking in and looking natural.
Enter this little beauty from Tom Ford. This blush isn't just beautiful, I would call it life changing. The color is absolutely perfect on my NC25 skin tone, it looks like I have to touch of a sunburn on my cheeks, but it a GOOD way. The texture is like a creamy gel, if that makes sense, and the pigment has a touch of luminosity that almost makes your cheek look wet. Not oily, not shiny, not sparkly, just well hydrated and glowing. The color is true to the photo swatch on this page. Not quite pink, not peach, not quite coral, just a perfect glowy hybrid. I don't have any other blush in my collection that is quite the same shade. The pigment is definitely buildable, I use a light touch all over my cheek bones, (applied with my fingers), and then a more intense pop right on the tops of the apples. The best part is, it lasts all day, with no touch ups. At 4:30 yesterday afternoon I still had a blushed cheek, after 8 hours of work.
Yes, its expensive. I get it. Sometimes though, expensive is worth it for the results. I may buy another two of these for back ups in case they are discontinued at some point. This is truly an amazing product.
Shimmers are much better than the mattes
I really kind of want to give this 3.75 stars based on my initial reaction. I bought this entire palette because I wanted the shade Androgyny. I received my palette today and was rather surprised when I swatched each pan. What is good is REALLY good. What is "bad" is really mediocre.
PROS: Pan size is much larger than most conventional palettes. The packaging is beautiful and the mirror is fantastic! The shimmer shades are richly pigmented and GORGEOUS! Deja Vu and Fetish are to die for. Charm, the orange shade on the top row, middle, is the lone really outstanding matte.
CONS: The mattes are not near as good as some mattes I have from other companies. The two matte browns in particular are REALLY disappointing. Poison, the teal-blue green, is almost what I would describe as muddy.
I'm on the fence with the shades Androgyny and Military. I need to play with both using a primer and a good brush, not just doing a finger swipe, before I pass a final judgement.
Each swatch on my arm is at least two swipes, with no primer. Safe Word, Dominatrix, Poison and Swallow were all 3 swipes.
