L.A. Book Signing, 2011
Mom-to-be and author Hilary Duff continued her chic hair streek with a mess side ponytail at her latest book signing. Celebrity hairstylist Marcus Francis even wove in a leather accent for an edgy effect. Marcus said he wanted the look to be all about texture and thought the leather gave it a DIY vibe.
Hair
Marcus prepped Hilary's damp hair with Rene Furterer Vegetal Mousse and blow dried her mane with a round brush to add body. After her hair cooled, he use a double barrel iron on two inch sections to create waves. Leaving the ends loose for an undone look. He spray each piece with L'Oreal Elnett Hair Spray for hold. Around the face, Marcus switched to a 3/4" curling iron and wrapped iron once around hair, aiming at the middle to create subtle bends that face frame.
Marcus braided Hilary's hair in the direction opposite of the part chosen, making sure to leave out loose bits around the face and secured ends with a clear elastic. He added the accent, by weaving the leather ribbon at the braid's end, tucking it into the elastic at ends. Then, he threaded the ribbon in and out of each section heading toward the scalp area and secured it with a criss-cross of two bobby pins. His finishing touch was a mist of L'Oreal Elnett Hair Spray.
