Beauty Product Reviews | Page 3
I once reviewed this product on here and talk about how it was hard to apply..at that time the only color I had it in was Faubourg Peach and to this day I still find this shade hard to work with. However, I now have Lingerie Pink and Nude Beige and I have fallen in love with them. They colors are amazing and the texture is really creamy. However, its not one that I would swipe on my lips on the run -- you have to be more methodical if you want it to apply well. I actually like to use my finger and rub it into my lips in a way, because if you don't I find it sort of sits on top of your lips. Definitely don't put it on dry/flakey lips that need to be exfoliated because the creamy texture does not compliment it well. But other than that I'm in love with it!
I'm usually not a huge fan of Benefit's products -- I think they focus more on the packaging than the actual product, sorry if that offends anyone -- but I will say they have a few items that are staples in my makeup back. This is definitely one of them! If you're looking for a subtle glow I would recommend this. For awhile I was getting bumps on my cheeks and I felt like a matte blush/bronzer would make them be way more apparent so I used this instead! In a weird way the orangey tone and slight shimmer detracted away from the bumps and made my skin look less irritated. It's definitely not a highly pigmented product so if you're looking for something more dramatic this isn't for you...that being said something about this product definitely works, and gives me a subtle glow that I love! I wear it every day.
Be careful!
Okay so this is an addition to my old review: Make sure to be very very careful when using products that put keratin in your hair. Unless your hair is severely damaged, too much protein can actually work against you and make your hair dry and fragile. I had to stop using this because although I figured it would make my hair soft, it made it crunchy and dry because my hair wasn't damaged. so be careful!!
I haven't had a lot of luck with this product...I have gotten the keratin complex a few times, most recently was in August, so I was excited to use this product to hopefully get a little dose of what made my hair so soft a few months ago. I realize that this product is best if you use heat styling tools in conjunction with it, but I have been reluctant to do so because my hair has been getting more and more damaged lately. It smells great, and is really creamy but I can't tell if it's helping or making my hair crunchy..it's nice to try it once, and maybe I'll have more luck as time goes on but I probably wouldn't repurchase this given the price and the results.
Not a fan
I got this (along with the other "photo ready" set) as a free sample with a purchase at Sephora. I actually really like Smashbox and have always had good luck with their products, but this is one that I'm not a fan of. It's way too much highlight for me...I feel like it just sits on my skin and makes me look extremely done up, not that glow you want from a highlighting product. If you're looking for something similar that won't make you look insane then I recommend Moon Beam by Benefit!
I recently impulsed purchased this on my way through the line at Sephora ...I had been thinking that I wanted to try setting spray out anyways so this was the perfect opportunity, and I have yet to be disappointed :) it really does help your makeup stay on, and I actually love the moisture as a finishing touch, especially if my skin is feeling a bit tight. I definitely would buy this again!
favorite blush
This is an amazing product! Nars always delivers, so I wasn't surprised when I bought this blush and fell in love with it...I have it in "desire" which is very very hot pink, but I find that it applies very well, and looks great with bronzer! I also own "orgasm" and I know people say it works for every skin tone but I hate the way it makes me look..it's almost like my cheeks look dirty because it's so shimmery...it looks great on my friend so maybe its just me :) I love this blush! Definitely recommend it
Didn't work for me
If you're someone with dry or damaged hair to begin with, I wouldn't recommend using this product in order to grow out your hair...given other reviews of this product, I think it can work for certain hair types as it gets your scalp very clean but I felt that it actually damaged my hair. I contacted my hair stylist and she told me to stop using it and start using a product thats nourishing and makes my hair feel soft...I found that this made my hair dry, frizzy, and unmanageable! It's probably worth a shot to see if it works for your hair type but I didn't like the way it made my hair feel at all.
Favorite bronzer
I absolutely love this bronzer...my sister was the one who recommended it to me. I've been on the hunt for the perfect bronzer forever and I've finally found it! I only use bronzers that are matte and have no shimmer because I like to really blend it in and use it to contour, and I feel like shimmer is way too obvious. Before this I was using one by Smashbox that was also matte but Tarte has definitely nailed it. While it doesn't have shimmer it still does a great job of giving your skin a glow, subtle or intense depending on how much you want to apply. I will definitely repurchase this when I run out!
Nice but hard to apply
I absolutely love the different shades they have! I know it has nothing to do with the actual polish but I think the packaging is so cute, it's sort of what drew me to it in the first place. The one thing I will say is that it's not easy to apply...the brush is way too thin, and i prefer to try and get a coat on with at least one or two swipes, but it takes way more than that. Also, I don't know if it's just me but I feel like it chips/comes off REALLY quickly...like within the first few hours even. It stinks because I love the colors, but I don't think it's really worth the money.
I love Essie! The have the best colors in my opinion...they have a good selection of pastels and different fun but not over the top colors. The one complaint I have about them is that they can be hard to apply...I've really only found this with the lighter colors (such as "Sugar Daddy")...I find the first coat to be messy looking, and the second coat either doesn't do a good job of correcting it or is really gooey, plus the brush is horrible. However, like I said, this has really only been a problem with the lighter colors. It's definitely one of my favorite nail polish brands!
