Easy Coconut Cinnamon Sugar Scrub
I'm a huge fan of body scrubs! I just love the thought of being able to rub a lovely smelling abrasive on my skin to reveal the smooth, new skin beneath. Do you like salt or sugar scrubs best? Personally, I love a good sugar scrub because I love my sweets! Other times, I prefer salt for it's detoxifying abilities. If you are more of a savory person, check out my salt scrub recipe here.
Today I wanted to share this simple sugar scrub recipe that will make you want to lick your lips! As a matter of fact, you can use it as a lip scrub too!
All you need are some simple ingredients you probably already have in your fridge or pantry.
Gather together:
1 cup organic brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
1/2 cup virgin, unrefined organic coconut oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Glass jar with lid (use any empty glass jar you may have or use a Ball jar)
Mixing bowl
Spoon
You might be asking...what is the best kind of cinnamon powder to use? An organic cinnamon powder will work but if you want to go for the best, get Kojinte cinnamon.
Why use cinnamon is this body scrub?
If you didn't already know, this flavorful spice has incredible benefits for the body, both inside and out. Here's just a few:
-brings blood to the surface of the skin (plumps the skin)
-plumps lips
-relief from eczema when combined with honey
-can treat acne
-can be applied to fine lines
This is why I chose to use cinnamon in the scrub...not to mention the fact that it will make it smell delicious!
Coconut is the oil of choice because of it's many skin benefits as well, including:
-incredibly moisturizing for dry skin
-heals skin rashes like eczema and acne
-anti-aging
-treats stretch marks
-anti-viral and anti-bacterial
Directions:
I like to mix everything in a mixing bowl first, to completely integrate all the ingredients.
1. First measure the brown sugar into the bowl.
2. Add the coconut oil and stir until thoroughly combined.
3. Add the vanilla extract and cinnamon and mix well.
Close jar tightly until you use it and store in a cool dry place. I know that once when I forgot to put my scrub away, it attracted ants in the shower!
Be sure to use the scrub rather quickly (within 2 weeks) as homemade skincare usually has the tendency to go bad sooner.
If you make this delectable scrub, leave me a comment and let me know how it went!

Stay natural...stay beautiful...go green!
P.S. I used this delectable sugar scrub on Saturday....my skin was like silk and I felt like I was having dessert in the shower! You will love this!
