An Alternative to Toxic Powder
The white stuff.....the stuff I need so badly! If I don't get it, I will have a serious withdrawal...
It's not what you think....I'm talking about powder or body powder to be more exact. I'm addicted to this stuff!
Back in the day, my mother used to use talcum powder daily and I eventually started to use it too.
[I attribute her developing ovarian cancer to her repeated use of talcum powder over the years. Talc particles have been found in ovarian cancer tumors.]
The brand I liked was either Shower to Shower or the scented varieties of Johnson's Baby Powder.
Now, while Shower to Shower contain corn starch, which isn't too bad, it also contains fragrance. That word can include hundreds of chemicals, many of which are hormone altering.
As for the Johnson and Johnson's powder, it contains talc. Many mothers use this powder on their babies! It's something that should be completely avoided as there are many other options, such as Burt's Bees.
So as an adult, I still like to use powder after showering. It just makes me feel fresh and keeps me dry in some key areas.
One day I was reading one of my favorite blogs, Dragonfly Beauty. Tiffany was reviewing a tinted lip balm from an independent seller on easy. I'd never bought anything from easy before but I always like to buy things from small business owners. I really liked the lip balm and wanted to get it so I decided to browse the other products offered by the seller, French Girl Organics.
I struck gold! I found she formulated a variety of botanical body powders in different scents. They're all scented with essential oils and odor absorbing herbs! The different varieties are:
Rose Noir- rose and sandalwood with incense spices
Ambre Noir- vanilla and sandalwood with incense spices
Moroccan Blue- neroli and chamomile
I've tried the first two and love them! It leaves me smelling so fresh! Next time I am going to try the Moroccan Blue.
Besides the great scents, French Girl's powders also feature:
95% Organic or Wild-Crafted Ingredients
100% Vegan Friendly
100% Plant Ingredients
Tested on French Girls, never on animals!
They run $12 for a 4oz paper shaker bottle.
Does this seem like a lot to you for powder? I don't mind paying that much because I know I am paying for quality. I always say to people who complain organic products are more: "Pay now, or pay later!"
French GIrl Organics also makes a variety of other natural skin care and beauty products.
If you want to check it out, go say "Boujour" to Kristen, from French Girl Organics on etsy.
Now it's your turn!
What brand of powder did you turn to after you switched from conventional powder?
What's your favorite for your baby?
Stay natural, stay beautiful, go green!
