**NEW VIDEOS EVERY WEEK!** Want to know how to be a 'YouTube Beauty Guru'? What can you do to increase your audience? What's the most important thing when making content? It's all here!
HI AND HELLO!
Before I go any further, I am not making this video because I think that I am somehow an amazing beauty guru. There is still a lot that I have to learn and grow from as a content creator, and I LOVE THAT! You never stop learning! I don't have the biggest audience, but I do want to share some things that have helped me grow the audience that I am thankful to have. All I hope for is that if you are also on this journey, or you're thinking of taking it up, then this video will help to offer some guidance.
I left a lot of stuff out of this video. I knew it would be a long one, so some things got the CHOP! A few more pointers that didn't quite make it include:
- Aim for quality content. Pumping out videos is important, so you can not only find your niche but to also consistently increase your collective video views. However, if the quality isn't there then you won't ever successfully grow a solid audience. Quality control covers things such as presentation, information, visual clarity, sound clarity, video flow or narrative and personality.
- Scheduling your videos can help increase your audience, as they know which day/s to expect your videos.
- Make your thumbnail picture clear, interesting, and authentic. Minimise it before using it to check that it looks good and clear when it's small as well as large. Your videos will be seen on multiple formats - keep this in mind with filming and thumbnails.
- Subscribers are important, but they DO NOT EQUAL VIEWS OR A CONSISTENT AUDIENCE. On average, your videos will only reach 1/5 or 1/4 of your actual subscribers. Some videos may go 'viral'. This is both good and bad - it's great to have popular videos, but they will throw your analytics totally out of whack!
- Finding your niche takes time and patience. Your niche could come from the type of content you produce, your personal look/appearance, your information/research, your personality or the way you edit/film your videos.
- Companies will email you to do reviews of their products and/or services. It is up to you to do them or not. For a smaller YouTuber, they can be a great way to promote both your channel and their product. As you grow, you may become more picky about these types of things - don't ever feel forced into accepting a product or sponsorship! It is YOUR channel, not theirs. You're doing all the hard work! Also, don't under-sell yourself. You have a powerful voice here on YouTube and the ability to reach thousands of potential buyers. Take serious consideration into how well a product will fit with your channel theme or niche - not all promotion is good promotion.
Here's a list of popular types of beauty videos you can try:
- Kim Kardashian makeup look
- Angelina Jolie makeup look
- Mila Kunis makeup look
- Makeup transformation
- Tag videos such as "50 random facts", "IMATS", "beauty things I suck at" or "Draw my life".
- Acne or skin care videos
- Popular product reviews
- Naked palette makeup look/review
- Edgy fashion videos
- Bright hair colouring videos
- Huge popular brand name hauls
- Cute and easy DIY projects
- Morning/Night time routine videos
Really, there is ALWAYS something you can do! You can ask your audience for suggestions too, but they don't always chat back. Look around YouTube to see what videos are trending and make responses, or do your take on a popular topic.
There are many more things that you can do to help grow your YouTube audience, but how about you check out the YouTube Creator Blog for more information, and the YouTube playbooks! Google them! :)
Growing your channel will take time. These things don't happen overnight. Some people get lucky and make content that people love straight away - but they are anomalies. They are not average, They are rare! Don't compare yourself to anyone else but yourself.
