I never tried henna before and this was my first attempt so it did not turn out too great. But I think the peacock henna couple turned out cute.

Henna (known as mehndi in hindi) comes from a flowering plant used to dye hair, hands, feet etc. The mixture can be prepared using the instructions given on the packet or you can get a readymade cone from any Indian grocery store and apply. Apply your design and let it dry. You may wash off immediately to get an ornage-ish color. To get a darker effect, scrape of the dry part with the end of a spoon or plastick knife (be careful) and continue routine activities as you normally would ( you need to do this so that you clean it by scraping off and not using water). The more it comes in contact with water, the lighter it will turn out and the faster it will fade. Henna tattoos usually last for about 2 weeks.
