Like I mentioned in the video, "rolls" are what Americans know as sushi today. California rolls are an example of them.
I don't explain how to make the sushi rice because I have not perfected it so I don't want to look like a dummy. But I made about 1 cup 1/2. with almost 1:1 ratio of water, 5 tblsp of rice vinegar with 2 tblsp of sugar and salt.. I forgot exactly how much sugar and salt it was but it was around there. My books aren't around me right now.
Also do keep in mind that in the tutorial I used a whole sheet but for a small california roll you only need half of it. But it still turned out well =)
Materials:
Bamboo mat (wrapped in either a ziploc or saran wrap)
A very good sharp knife
Ingredients:
Cucumber
Avocado
Sushi seaweed
Sushi rice (short grain rice only!)
Fish cake (crab sticks)
Optional:
Smelt roe (because not everyone likes eating fish eggs)
Japanese Mayo (regular would work just fine)
Enjoy with Kikkoman low sodium soy sauce or with my fav, spicy mayo! (sriracha with mayo)

FTC: All my own stuff. I don't think sushi people would sponsor me? haha I did used to work for a few sushi restaurants though so if you were wondering that's where part of my knowledge came from
