Look Fabulous For Your Senior Portrait!

Hey, everyone. I'm doing a school series and this is the first video. Now for senior portraits they have you take a picture in that black thing, for the guys it's like that suit and then for the girls that black like tube top thingy or off the shoulder, you guys know what I'm talking about. They have you take pictures in your cap and gown. I'm wearing my high school cap and gown. I graduated two years ago.

I went with the smoky eye and I talk about it throughout the video how I go with like a brighter blush and more intense lips because you don't want to look washed out in your pictures. You want to go a little more heavy with the makeup so it shows up in your pictures. I explain throughout the video, so here's the look that I did. An important thing also is that you don't want to match with your school colors. Like my school colors were teal, I am not going to wear teal eye shadow with this. Just a thought, you don't have to match your cap and gown or your school colors or anything. You take senior pictures your junior summer so hopefully I'm on time for you guys. Let's get started. Right now of course my hair's not done, I have foundation and my eyebrows on. I know I should've showed you guys but I'm not going to do foundation application for a while but I'll get to it eventually. But basically what I use is my Make Up Forever Duo mat powder and then underneath it I put on my Select cover up, not Select cover up, Studio Finish concealer by MAC. Then I put my duo mat powder on top. That's all I have right now, I don't have any under eye concealer. Prime my eyes with Painterly Paintpot by MAC, drew in my eyebrows and here we are.

So why am I wearing a tube top? I remember when I was taking my senior portraits; they actually required the girls to wear a tube top because you wear that black thing. I don't know what it's called and then they have you do one cap and gown. They want you to wear something like this so you could just put whatever it is like on top and stuff. I'm going to pull my hair back because it's going to go everywhere.

I know I always say it but I'm going to powder under my eyes to catch the fall out. You don't have to do this. A question I know I'm going to get is foundation, what kind of foundation is good for pictures? Usually with a foundation with no SPF in it, the reason being is because SPF foundations have titanium dioxide and that'll make you look washed out in photos. That's why they say that you shouldn't use one with SPF in it.

What I'm going to go with is kind of a purple, blue light smoky eye with pink lips and pink cheeks. That's because if you use something like light, like maybe nude lips it won't look that great in photography. I think I read in one of my Bobbi Brown books that wedding wise, you know when you take pictures, you don't want to go too nude because your lips are going to look just washed out. You want to go a little more pink but I'll explain that later. I'm going to go with kind if a purply smoky eye right now.

Painterly Paint Pot is primed on my eyes. I'm going to go in with this Coastal Scents Royal Purple. Excuse my crappy nails, my manicure wore off so fast. This is a Coastal Scents synthetic brush. I'm just going to put this on my lid. I'm not going to go too high up; I want to keep this just on the lid.

What you want to do is kind of feather up the edges or the lines I mean so it doesn't look so harsh. Just like that. Now I'm going to go in with my NARS palette, this is the 9947; I did a review on this. I'm going to take that medium purple right there and that one is called Ondine with a flat brush and this is Sigma's 239 and I'm going to put that on top. See that lightens up that dark purple so don't be scared. I'm doing the same thing on the other side.

After that I'm going to take a Sigma 217 brush to just blend it out, in my crease. I'm going to take this huge Coastal Scents brush and this is Bare Escentuals Light Show. It's a highlight color and it's from one of their new sets, forgot what it was called. What I'm going to do, you have to be really, really careful with this because I actually don't want that smoky eye to go really, really high up. I'm going to take this fluffy blendy brush and this is by Sigma 224. With the same palette, I'm going to take that warm color right there. That one's called Suburbia, Suribia, I'm sorry, Suribia 2. I'm going to put this warm color in my crease. Really lightly, you don't want to put too much of this. I just want that warm color.

Now I'm going to go back in with the 217 and I'm going to take Night Flight, which is that dark blue and put this in my crease just right here. This is just going to add definition to my eye. You could actually just go out like that if you want to just continue with your eyeliner and all that stuff. This is just to make it look a little more smoky. Do the same on this side. After you have that blue on I'm going to blend it out with the blendy brush. It should look like this so far, smoky but I don't think it's like too, too, too much. Let me go ahead and wipe away that powder, whatever eye shadow fell will just be wiped away and won't interfere with my foundation.

I'm going to take a small brush, small flat brush and I'm going to take that color right there, that one is called Himalayas. It's a nice kind of pearly color. It's going to be our tear duct color, put on my under eye concealer and I used Select cover up by MAC. For eyeliner I'm going to use my MAC Engraved Powerpoint pencil. I'm getting as close to the lash line as possible. I'm going to use my Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Volumizing mascara. This is new I haven't used it yet. Here's the brush.

Now onto my contour and all that stuff, I'm going to use MAC's Blunt with my Sigma 109. I'm going to use MAC's Hush crème color base onto my highlight and this MAC's 188. This is just going to highlight our cheek bones. As a blush I'm going to go more pink so don't let the color scare you. This is my Inuovi Berry Blush. It's a nice kind of dark bright pink and this is MAC's, oh, Sigma's 168. You have to keep in mind that if you go really light for photography, yeah, it won't show up. You have to go a little more intense, a little more bright, you know. This blush is so silky. I love these blushes.

A lip color combo that I've been using a lot lately is what I'm going to show you guys right now. This is a Coastal Scents lip liner in Coffee. I'm going to line my lips with this and fill it in. This is my MAC lipstick in the Viva Glam one, number six is special edition. I have been using this lipstick a lot lately. It's gorgeous. I used it for a recent photo shoot that I had. I'm going to show a picture from it right now and the lipstick is gorgeous in the picture. Even the photographer liked the lipstick. Shout out to Andrew.

I'm going to dab this Revlon lip gloss just in the center and this is my new wonderful lip gloss in Pink Whisper that Suzie bought for me. I'm just going to put this in the center and it'll make my lips look a little more bigger.

Here's the finished face. Hope you all enjoy this, hope it's helpful for your pictures. Don't be scared to go a little more intense with the makeup when it comes to photography. If you go really, really light with makeup, it's not going to show that well in photos. So don't be scared to go a little more darker, a little more brighter.
