Medusa, in some stories, was a beautiful maiden with long silky golden hair which was the envy of all. She was so beautiful that the God Posideon himself had to have her, This made Athena so enraged with jealousy that she cursed medusa to have the golden scales of a snake, snakes for hair and that no man could ever gaze upon her beauty again without being turned to stone... Thought it was an interesting story. ^_^
