These are my five rules to follow when budgeting for beauty and makeup products:
Share your interest in makeup with your friends and family. So often people are at a loss for gift ideas around holidays or birthdays. If people in your life know you like makeup, they may consider giving it as a gift.
Clip coupons. Grab the Sunday edition of your local paper, get the scissors and start clipping! This will save you on average $1 per product
Sign up for a store's rewards card. If you frequent a particular store, find out if they have a rewards club through which you can accrue coupons to use on any item in the store.
Watch store-sponsored videos online. Some drug stores now how programs where if you watch a minute to two minute video online, you are rewarded with a coupon. These coupons usually have a higher value than the newspaper's coupons.
Follow the golden rule of budgeting: Never pay full price for ANYTHING! I mean it! Wait until your favorite brand is having a percentage off week, two for one, or buy one/get one half deal. Discounts are NOT uniform from store to store, so make sure to check other chains to see if they their deals beat other stores. For example, a brand at one store may be 40% off while at the other store, it may be full price. Shop around!
I hope these tips help you find the products you've always wanted to try for half the cost!
