You can use a bobby pin, and hair pin, a chopstick, pen, pencil, whatever you can find. I've used straws from a bar before, and they worked perfectly fine. Just make sure they're sturdy enough!!
The wig is from http://www.bestremywigs.com, it's a full lace wig that was originally brown. I bleached it and then colored it the mermaid-E color you see in the video. I used Pravana Chrome Silk Vivids hair color (Green & Blue) to do so.

super awesome idea! it took me a while to get the hang of it like you said and my hair is way too thick for just one bobby pin but a pencil works great
