This tutorial will help you replicate one of the looks worn by Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Girls in photoshoots and at concerts. Its a simple, but a rather statement-making look so those who shy away from the bold, beware! I named this Doll Faced because the zoned-out, odd look reminds me of well, dolls. You could wear this for Halloween or if youre dressing up with your friends as the Harajuku Girls for any event. And, if youre feeling extra confident, you can wear it on a normal day or a toned-down version of it.

While this tutorial is about Stefani's Harajuku style, this video links to a sequel video; a crash course on original Harajuku style and some tips on how to create your own. Please check it out & educate yourself! There's pictures and footage that I took when I went to Japan in 2008. I got to be dressed up as a Geisha by Japanese women (shoes, hair, clothes and makeup!) so if you want to see how that looks, go watch the video and learn about Harajuku style along the way!

.:::::EXTRA TIPS:::::.
Tip #12: For an extra doll-like appearance, achieve smooth skin by apply foundation primer on your entire face before applying liquid coverage. This will help the makeup last longer as well as give you a smoother finish.
Tip #13: If you need this look to last extra long, try using lip primer prior to drawing on the heart-red lips and eyshadow primer for the eyemakeup.
Tip #14: If you need to touchup this look on the go, I recommend bringing the lipliner and a tube of red lipstick.
Did you Know? Some say that Harajuku fashion was originally a mix of traditional Japanese style with a twist of western style. This may or may not be true, but perhaps this explains why many Harajuku styles have white-painted faces, derived from the face of a Geisha?

Note #1: The Shoutout at the end to RayWilliamJohnson & Michelle Phan was a reference to Michelle's "Guy Makeup" tutorial and the fishface they do at the end. As you know, Michelle is the one I look up to in makeup and Ray is just ... funny. And they're friends!
Note #2: All stuffed animals used in this tutorial were bought in Japan. Horray, it's their time to shine! :)
