I did as much research as I could - this is my video talking about some trends within the Harajuku style and a little history about the origination and the traditions of Harajuku style. I know that ever since the "Harajuku Lovers" scene and all the products came out, there have been some bitter feelings about how Harajuku fashion was around way before it came to mainstream products in the states. I know that the "American version" of Harajuku is not that similar to the original Japanese style, so this was my attempt to try and educate just the surface level of Harajuku style in respects to the origination of the fashion.

This is a continuation of a makeup tutorial I created. However, the makeup is a recreation of a look the HARAJUKU GIRLS wore (Stefani's). Confusing, huh?
Either way, I hope you learn something and that you enjoy this video and please watch the tutorial if you think you might be interested:

In this video I used footage of the bullet train ... yes, that is footage taken by me, back in 2008. There are also pictures of when I got the amazing opportunity to dress as a Geisha by an agency in Japan. It was in this really rural area somewhere near Kyoto. Sometimes I forget how authentic and rare the experience was. I even got to wear the high shoes! There was this really steep stairwell I had to go down in those shoes. And they put wigs on us, so that is not my real hair. But I did choose the clothes and the hair decoration :) They drew new eyebrows on me! But I didn't like smiling cause yeah the white paint makes your teeth look so freakishly yellow. :P
All pictures & video in this were taken by me.

Did you Know? Some say that Harajuku fashion was originally a mix of traditional Japanese style with a twist of western style. This may or may not be true, but perhaps this explains why many Harajuku styles have white-painted faces, derived from the face of a Geisha?
