Have you heard of Pust? It’s the biggest and most famous carnival in Slovenia! To celebrate the end of the winter and the arrival of spring, we dress up in costumes, eat our weight in jam-filled doughnuts and join a parade. Last weekend I went to check out the main ethnographic festival Kurentovanje in Ptuj, the oldest town in Slovenia where Kurent, the traditional pagan character and the star of the show, originates from. There was about a thousand of them flooding the streets of Ptuj last Sunday and the energy was infectious! I definitely recommend visiting Kurentovanje at least once in your life.
