Hey guys!
One of my biggest FRUSTRATIONS when it comes to acne is the huge volume of lies and mis-information all over the internet. It's out there for a few reasons:
- Companies want to sell their products, all of which are somehow the absolute best thing you can use in your life EVER. All of them.
- People believe that because a product, treatment or service has worked for them, then it simply must work for everyone else. That's how it works, right?
- Consumers believe they are qualified doctors, with the help of Google. I sure know I am!
I'm being sarcastic, but the truth is in there. I know I'm not a doctor or a skin specialist, but with enough research and experience, I've been able to discover a few myths continually perpetrated in the media, online and by word of mouth.
Just a quick clarification, because I lost my words a bit while filming, but when it comes to the myth about FOOD, I really mean 'Fatty junk foods cause acne', not exactly 'Fatty junk foods can affect your skin' like I said in the video. Fatty junk food and sugary food cannot be directly linked to acne, HOWEVER certain food can affect the skin, such as excess sugar and dairy, and you will know for yourself which food types affect you personally, by assessing what happens to your skin after eating them. I just wanted to make that point, because I don't believe I was clear enough in the video.
It is also possible that there are things such as colours, flavours and preservatives in processed foods that are aggravating your acne. Again, this comes down to the individual, and you must judge for yourself what food affects you.
I have always, and will always, support a well-balanced, healthy diet full of good food such as fruit, vegetables and whole-grains for the skin and well-being. It is vital to look after our bodies! It's just that I'm also a realist that likes chocolate, so I'm not going to say "DON'T EAT CHOCOLATE!!" because that would be incredibly hypocritical of me, and goes against my personal food & skin philosophy!
If you know of any other myths, let me know in the comments!
