I took the quiz I linked above, and got normal to combination: "Experiment to strike a balance with products that aren't too greasy or overly drying," says Dr. Arielle Kauvar, associate director of The Laser and Skin Center of New York. Each morning, wash with a simple cleansing cream or bar rather than soap. Further clean the T-zone area with alcohol-free toner. Apply moisturizer where your skin needs it, and unify your complexion with oil-free foundation.
When exfoliating, a mild scrub every one to two weeks will suffice— look for one with salicylic acid. For your occasional body breakouts, treat skin with salicylic acid toner, which keeps pores unclogged, and benzoyl peroxide to kill acne-causing bacteria.
Don't forget to protect your skin from the sun— all year round. Dr. Kauvar reminds, "You tolerate sunscreen well; now wear it." She recommends SPF 15 year-round and SPF 30 in the summer. Protect your lips from wind and sun with zinc oxide or lip balm with SPF 30.
