►Materials Used◄
Canvas
State print out (or any shape you please)
Glitter (any color you please)
Paint (any color you please)
Tape
Sponges
Tacky Glue
Hairspray (optional)
►DIY Instructions◄
I began with my blank white canvas.
I applied tape horizontally across my canvas to create strips.
If you want more precise lines use a measuring tape or ruler to measure out the distances precisely.
I wanted my stripes to be more organic so I did not do that but you definitely can.
Once your tape is applied, take a sponge and dip it into your paint.
Begin at one end of your canvas and begin applying the paint in stripes following your taped lines.
Let your paint fully dry.
I actually applied two layers of paint to make the black opaque.
Once the paint is dried, remove the tape you applied earlier.
Next glue your state print out to your canvas.
I got my state picture off the computer (google), printed it, and cut it out.
Once your state has been glued to your canvas, apply glue on top of your state picture.
Apply a thick layer of glue.
Use a clean sponge to smooth out the glue and fill in any holes and cover the entire state.
Once you apply a thick layer of glue, dust on a good helping of glitter.
Pat gently on the glitter just applied to ensure it sticks securely to the glue.
Let sit to dry (drying time depends on glue used).
Once dry, shake off any excesses glitter and save it for your next project.
After I shook off as much glitter as I could, I took a clean fluffy makeup brush and dusted off any strays.
I also sprayed hairspray onto my finished canvas to seal in the paint and glitter.
The hairspray added an element of shine to my paint and durability.
And it also sealed in the glitter so that it would not fall off once displayed around my room.
