Hey guys, this is MY opinion. My thoughts on this topic, so keep in mind that I am not speaking for anyone else other than myself. As someone who LOVES conventions, I thought I would share my thoughts. Enjoy and comment down below.

Message from Hank Green (VidCon co-creator) (P.S. He wasn't speaking to me, but he addresses the issue):
"I tooootally feel you. The big problem Our big problem (by a stretch) was signing lines, but more broadly with a subset of the audience that was not respectful and even some creators that were encouraging that sort of behavior. We're not really sure what to do about that (though there are some creators who won't be coming back.)
We're contemplating a ticketing system now, but we're struggling to figure out (way beforehand) how many people 100 different creators want to sign for. We might be able to shrink that number by focusing only on the most in-demand creators, but it's still quite a task, since some people don't even let us know they're coming until a few weeks before the event. I think that having people know whether or not they're going to get a signing from their favorite creators will prevent some of the less respectful people from attending.
We cant do the ticketing on-site because that just pushes the line (and the people waiting all night) to somewhere else.
Next year we'll also have larger areas for big panels. Areas that I can't imagine will fill up. However, at pretty much every conference I've ever heard of can't guarantee attendance to all content, and I doubt we'll ever be able to do that either. For perspective, at any given moment, VidCon has space for about 50,000 people. Of course, some of those areas are much more popular, and the biggest panel room we had this year was big enough for 3000. Next year, we will have a panel space that will fit over 6000 people (we're converting an expo hall into function space.)
We're also not planning on growing much (if at all) next year, so we will have much better systems, but no more people. "
