Recipe for this dessert: Sauce ingredients - 2 c. brown sugar, 1 1/4 c. water, 3 tbs, melted butter. Boil for 2 minutes. Cake ingredients - 1 c. flour, 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. shortening or butter (I used butter and melted it in microwave), 1 beaten egg, 1/3 c. milk.
1, Beat all the cake ingredients together and put in an 8x8 greased pan. (square pan)
2, Pour the sauce evenly over top of cake. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. The sauce will turn into a creamy layer on the bottom of the cake. Slice and scoop with a spatula making sure you gets lots of the creamy caramel sauce.
3. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Enjoy!
