This is a video I've wanted to make for the past year or so but I have never had the strength or bravery to film it. I wanted my New Years resolution to help better me as a person so I decided to be braver and 'say what I want to say'. While this video is extremely long, I think that it was important to keep all in one place instead of ripping it up and filling subscription boxes with a big list of sadness. I don't think that in the beauty community, we talk enough about dating abuse or violence, nor do people really talk about it in school albeit one week in a health class and very soon forgotten. If you do not want to watch the video in its entirety, here are the main topics I cover and when they are brought up:
Introduction 0:00 - 2:03
Types of Abuse 2:03 - 3:26
Recognizing Physical Abuse 3:27 - 5:30
Recognizing Sexual Abuse 5:31 - 7:37
Recognizing Verbal Abuse 7:38 - 9:33
Recognizing Emotional Abuse 9:34 - 12:07
Recognizing Psychological Abuse 12:08 - 16:45
Warning Signs 16:46 - 19:01
Why People Stay 19:02 - 21:52
Being a Friend/Supporter 21:53 - 27:21
Coping (I tear up a little here.) 27:22 - 32:27
If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, or you aren't sure and you want to seek help or information, listed below are websites (which are also my works cited aside from common knowledge and experience) that can be of some use to you:

Final Note: I do NOT think that I am the end all be all gurus on abusive relationships. There are plenty of stories, tactics, reasons, etc. that are not listed in this video that may or may not be true for other survivors of abuse. I am also not a therapist nor mental health professional, I am not the sole being who can help with these types of issues; I am simply giving advice and expressing when to recognize when a relationship is or could become abusive and how to cope. Lastly, please do not encourage me to share my experience unless I am open to doing so or openly bring it up to you either via message or comments. It is not something that I am comfortable talking about in depth with people who are not directly close to me and it is hard for me to open up about. Thank you for respecting my privacy.
