I absolutely love all of the sugar skull tutorials on YouTube and have wanted to create one for awhile now. I also appreciate and respect the tradition of Dia de los Muertos. This tutorial was done out of admiration and NOT mockery in any manner.
When I was first trying to upload I had captions explaining each step and all the products, but had major issues uploading. I was getting the "not enough space in the heap zone error" this went on for about a week. Hence no videos posted recently :/ So after researching on Apple forums. I tried deleting the captions and uploading in 720p instead of 1080p :( I was not happy about that... So needless to say my video is debuting late, but better late than never :)
Here is a step by step list of what I did and the products I used:
1. Contour Face and Neck with a dark foundation. (Nars Foundation Stick in Malaysia)
2. Darken with a black eyeliner pencil (MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder)
3. Use a light concealer of foundation to create a Skull Shape (Maybelline Age Rewind in Light Pale)
4. Blend with a Makeup Sponge
5. Use a white concealer to Lighten and Whiten (Maybelline Cover Stick in White)
6. Deepen and Set Cheek Hollows with a dark powder or blush (MAC Blunt)
7. Add Blush for a Glam Look (Tarte Blush in Flush)
8. Trace out eye circles (Rimmel Pencil Eyeliner in (Rimmel Soft Kohl in Jet Black)
9. Use a black eyeliner around eyes and on waterline to create deep set eyes (Inglot Gel Eyeliner in #77)
10. Add eyeshadow I'm using purples (MAC Pigment in Grape)
11. Second eyeshadow (MAC pressed pigment in Amethyst and fix+)
12. Set black eyeliner with a black eyeshadow I used one with shimmer (L'Oreal Infallible in Eternal Black)
13. Add glitter I used purple and Pink (NYX Glitter Liner in Dramatic Sparkle and Crystal Pink)
14. Add embellishments I used rhinestones and pearls.
15. Touch up eyeshadows
16. Trace out forehead design and darken with black (NYX Pencil Liner in Purple and Iglot Gel #77)
17. Create shadows and Touch up with white concealer (Maybelline Cover Stick in White)
18. Trace out nose cavity and fill in (Inglot Gel Eyeliner #77)
19. Draw teeth and mouth design (Inglot Gel Eyeliner #77)
20. Draw face designs (Inglot Gel Eyeliner #77)
21. Deepen cheek hollows (Rimmel Soft Kohl Pencil in Jet Black)
22. Drawn and shade chin design (Inglot Gel Eyeliner #77 and Purple Shadows)
23. Add glitter and embellishments
