ALS is a serious neurodegenerative disease that has been the subject of the Ice Bucket Challenge campaign to raise funds and, more importantly, awareness of the challenges faced by those with ALS. Although it's hilarious to watch some people's versions of the ice bucket challenge, it's important to take some time to research and understand what it is that we're all supporting. After my reading, I chose to donate to the ALS research being done at John Paul II Medical Research Institute because their research is done without the destruction of embryonic stem sells, but instead using adult stem sells. I encourage everyone to not only donate, but research! Some links I found helpful were the following:
