Have you seen these Rimmel London Eye Paints yet?
I was both hopeful and skeptical about these when I first saw them, because in general I haven't had the best luck with liquid eyeshadows such as these. Like anything they have their pros and cons, but overall I'm not the biggest fan of the formula.
Here's a few salient points:
Formula: Very wet, shiny, needs to be applied with time and patience due to the need for gradual layering. A thicker initial application will only smudge and get all over the place.
Pigmentation: Quite good, thin or thick layers show plenty of color, but blending isn't very smooth.
Color Selection: 12 shades is a good amount, but the variety isn't. There are 2 very bronzy and similar shades, then you have 2 Brown/Taupe shades, and 2 reddish/berry shades. There is one purple and no blue or green. They could have definitely incorporated more variety for the number of shades released.
Blending: This was the key downfall for me personally. I have tried to blend with my fingers, with a brush, and either way you end up pulling product off your eyes. The darker shade was especially noticeable, but the colors easily get patchy and need touching up.
Staying Power: You definitely want to use a good primer with these. As I said in the video, they don't exactly crease or flake off, they just gradually fade on their own. I have since used them with a primer and shadow on top and they work better that way.
Applicator: I would call it a duck beak more than a doe foot, but it's basically what you'd expect. The tip of the brush is slightly longer and flatter than your standard doe foot applicator. I actually find it quite comfortable to use.
Overall Thoughts: Will I be buying more? No, definitely not. I do enjoy the taupe shade a bit, especially with primer and as a base for a nice violet eyeshadow, but I won't be recommending them to any friends or family.
Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think in the comments section below!
Thanks for watching!
