Please be advised that you should consult a stylist before changing anything to ensure that you are not damaging your hair. You want healthy hair and do that we need to be smart and strategic about the changes we implement.
Weaves and wigs give your natural hair a break from heavy styling and heat damage. Invest in a good stylist and try to maintain a style that will allow your hair the break it needs. Try a latch hook "faux" fro or if you're more of a sew-in girl try a U-Part/V-Part Wig. Its easy, convenient and it can be sewn down without the heavy tension on your hair while its braided.
Relaxers (or try a silk press) are great for rocking a style that requires a smooth straight hair. I would suggest once you get the relaxer find a shampoo that is not so harsh on your hair. Carol's Daughter, Herbal Essences, Garnier Fructis, and WEN are great products that can help aid your hair in the process of staying hydrated, soft and healthy (whether relaxed or straightened). I would also continue to search and use natural products on the hair for daily upkeep. Invest in the following products: Oil and water (although it seems like a minimal task the most difficult aspect is finding the right oil for your hair. unfortunately that only way to find it out is by trial and error. but i would start off at my local grocery store canola oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, coconut oil, they provide a certain amount of nutrients and protection for an affordable price) the water is what hydrates the hair and the oil is what seals it. Put equal parts water and oil in a bottle and everyday spray your hair with the concoction. Invest in some shea butter. You add your own nutrients such as oils and vitamins, your own essential oils be it peppermint or black cherry. Coastalscents.com is a place to find these products. They have a whole collection and you create your own whipped shea butter mixture for your hair and body that smells like whatever you want! Check out sheabutterguide.com for some really good recipes for shea butter mixtures.

*Things to look For: When shopping on websites you need to look for certain seals. Verified symbol, Better Business Bureau symbol, PayPal merchant, Yahoo!, or Google merchant symbol. Look for different symbols that make the website legit. You don't want to get caught up in a bogus site*
